UNK_QuietRacket is an espionage-focused threat activity cluster tracked by Proofpoint. Its observed campaigns began on September 3, 2026, targeting government, consulting, and financial-sector organizations in Indonesia and Singapore. The cluster uses spearphishing links disguised as Indonesian conference invitations to direct victims to sites hosting the BlueMoon exploit kit. BlueMoon compromises Chromium-based browsers on Windows by chaining V8 code execution and sandbox escape with Windows local privilege escalation. Its exploitation chain includes CVE-2026-85046 and CVE-2026-85880, fingerprints the victim's system, and injects code into the parent Chrome broker process. UNK_QuietRacket uses a modified delivery stage to deploy a DLL-sideloading pair, whose malicious DLL retrieves and executes a .NET assembly in memory. The payload establishes persistence through a scheduled task that relaunches the sideloading sequence. The cluster resolves command-and-control infrastructure through Google's DNS-over-HTTPS service, using TXT records containing ChaCha20-encrypted address information, and subsequently communicates with Cloudflare Workers. Although it shares BlueMoon with other espionage clusters, UNK_QuietRacket is tracked as a distinct activity cluster rather than an alias or subgroup of those operators.
