CVE-2026-45586, also referred to as GreenPlasma, is a local elevation-of-privilege vulnerability in the Windows Collaborative Translation Framework, including the CTFMON component. The flaw is caused by improper link resolution before file access, a link-following weakness that can allow file-system manipulation during privileged operations. Public reporting describes the issue as affecting file access handling in CTFMON and enabling a low-privileged or otherwise authorized local user to abuse the vulnerable path resolution behavior to escalate privileges. Successful exploitation can result in execution or actions in the security context of NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM on the affected host.
