CVE-2025-22226 is an information disclosure vulnerability in VMware ESXi, Workstation, and Fusion caused by an out-of-bounds read in HGFS, the Host-Guest File System component. The flaw allows a malicious actor with administrative privileges inside a guest virtual machine to read memory beyond intended bounds and leak contents from the VMX process. The issue affects the virtualization boundary by exposing sensitive host-side process memory to a privileged guest context and can be used as an information leak primitive in broader guest-to-host escape chains.
