CVE-2024-8963 is a critical path traversal vulnerability in Ivanti Cloud Services Appliance (CSA) 4.6 before Patch 519. The flaw allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to reach restricted functionality through improper path handling, enabling bypass of normal authentication controls and access to protected administrative capabilities. Reporting on observed exploitation indicates the issue was used to obtain session tokens and administrative access on vulnerable appliances. Although the vulnerability by itself is described as access to restricted functionality rather than direct code execution, it removes the administrative-access prerequisite for subsequent exploitation of other CSA flaws, most notably CVE-2024-8190.
