CVE-2023-38203 is an untrusted-data deserialization vulnerability affecting Adobe ColdFusion 2018 Update 17 and earlier, 2021 Update 7 and earlier, and 2023 Update 1 and earlier. ColdFusion's Web Distributed Data eXchange (WDDX) deserialization controls failed to block a Java deserialization gadget omitted from the denylist introduced for CVE-2023-29300. Crafted requests can exploit this omission to execute arbitrary code without user interaction. Observed attacks apparently chained the vulnerability with the CVE-2023-29298 access control bypass to reach a ColdFusion administrative component.
