CVE-2021-41653 is an authenticated command-injection vulnerability in the PING diagnostic function of TP-Link TL-WR840N EU v5 routers running firmware through TL-WR840N(EU)_V5_171211. A crafted payload in the IP address input field, identified as the host parameter, allows an authenticated attacker to execute arbitrary commands remotely on the router. The MANGA botnet campaign, also known as Dark, has exploited the vulnerability to deploy Mirai-based malware.

A vulnerability used in Smargaft's older worm-like propagation implementation. The bot scans private-network addresses and attempts exploitation after checking 100 IPs. A counter-reset bug prevents its intended public-network scanning. The subsequent payload discussion instead names CVE-2021-45653; this identifier inconsistency cannot be resolved from the content.
A TP-Link router vulnerability mentioned as affecting the same router models, but described as likely requiring valid credentials to exploit (making it a less straightforward candidate for 7777-Botnet propagation in this writeup).
A TP-Link vulnerability affecting the discussed router models, mentioned as a less likely 7777-Botnet infection vector because exploitation appears to require valid credentials.
An authenticated remote code execution vulnerability affecting TP-Link TL-WR840N EU (V5) wireless routers. A vulnerable host parameter permits authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands. The Mirai-based MANGA/Dark botnet exploits it to download and execute tshit.sh, install botnet payloads, and commandeer devices for denial-of-service attacks. Exploitation requires valid credentials.
