CVE-2021-34481 is a vulnerability in the Windows Print Spooler service caused by improper privileged file operations. Exploitation permits arbitrary code execution with SYSTEM privileges. A documented exploitation path allows a low-privilege user to install vulnerable printer drivers and elevate privileges. Although classified as remote code execution, the vulnerability was initially described as local privilege escalation. Microsoft released security updates on August 10, 2021, changing the default Point and Print driver installation behavior.
