CVE-2020-4006 is a command injection vulnerability affecting VMware Workspace ONE Access, Access Connector, Identity Manager, and Identity Manager Connector. The flaw is present in the administrative configurator interface and allows insufficiently sanitized input to be passed to the underlying operating system. A remote attacker who can reach the management interface and authenticate with a valid password can execute arbitrary system commands with unrestricted privileges on the affected appliance or host. The vulnerable interface is exposed through the administrative configurator, commonly on port 8443. Public reporting and government advisories associated the vulnerability with active exploitation by Russian state-sponsored actors, including use of the flaw for initial access, web shell deployment, and subsequent identity-focused operations.
