CVE-2019-1002100 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in the Kubernetes API Server affecting all Kubernetes versions prior to v1.11.8, v1.12.6, and v1.13.4. An authenticated user with authorization to issue patch requests can submit a specially crafted patch using the json-patch format, such as requests with content type application/json-patch+json. Processing the malicious patch causes excessive resource consumption in the API Server, allowing the attacker to degrade or disrupt API availability. The issue is triggered during server-side handling of json-patch operations rather than requiring code execution on cluster nodes.
