CVE-2017-6742 is a buffer overflow vulnerability in the SNMP implementation of Cisco IOS and IOS XE, including industrial networking products that embed affected components. A remote attacker can exploit the flaw by sending a crafted SNMP packet directly to a vulnerable device. SNMP versions 1, 2c, and 3 are affected. Exploitation requires knowledge of a read-only community string for SNMPv1/v2c or valid SNMPv3 user credentials and can result in arbitrary code execution with full device control or a device reload. APT28 exploited the vulnerability on Cisco routers in 2021, deploying Jaguar Tooth malware on some compromised devices.

Unknown (mentioned only as a CVE historically exploited by Fancy Bear; no details provided in this content).
An unauthenticated remote code execution vulnerability in Cisco IOS SNMP functionality affecting older Cisco IOS router firmware, used by APT28 to deploy Jaguar Tooth malware.
A Cisco router vulnerability exploited after attackers obtain or guess weak SNMP community strings, enabling deeper compromise of network infrastructure devices.
An SNMP vulnerability affecting Cisco routers that APT28 exploited against unpatched devices for reconnaissance and malware deployment. Weak or default SNMP community strings facilitated access. Cisco disclosed the vulnerability on 29 June 2017 and provided patched software and workarounds.
