CVE-2017-6334 is an OS command injection vulnerability in the DNS lookup CGI handler on NETGEAR DGN2200 devices running firmware through 10.0.0.50. A remote authenticated attacker can inject shell metacharacters into the host_name field of an HTTP POST request to execute arbitrary operating-system commands. This vulnerability is distinct from CVE-2017-6077.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (modules/exploits/linux/http/netgear_dnslookup_cmd_exec.rb) that exploits a command injection vulnerability (CVE-2017-6334) in NETGEAR DGN2200v1/v2/v3/v4 routers. The exploit works by sending a specially crafted POST request to the /dnslookup.cgi endpoint, authenticating with valid credentials, and injecting arbitrary shell commands via the 'host_name' parameter. The module includes a check method to verify if the target is a vulnerable NETGEAR router by inspecting the WWW-Authenticate header. The exploit is weaponized, allowing the attacker to execute arbitrary shell commands on the device. The only required configuration is the router's IP, port (default 80), and valid credentials. The code is written in Ruby and is designed to be used within the Metasploit framework.
