CVE-2017-20203 is a supply-chain compromise involving an embedded malicious library in NetSarang Xmanager Enterprise 5.0 Build 1232, Xmanager 5.0 Build 1045, Xshell 5.0 Build 1322, Xftp 5.0 Build 1218, and Xlpd 5.0 Build 1220. The library implements a multi-stage backdoor that communicates with a DNS command-and-control server using specially crafted TXT records for a month-generated domain. After receiving a decryption key, the backdoor downloads and executes arbitrary code and creates an encrypted virtual file system in the registry. It enables remote code execution, data exfiltration, and persistence. Kaspersky Lab identified exploitation in the wild in August 2017.

A critical NetSarang software supply-chain compromise involving a malicious nssock2.dll associated with ShadowPad. The backdoor uses DNS TXT records for command-and-control and, after receiving a decryption key, downloads and executes arbitrary code. It creates an encrypted virtual file system in the registry, enabling remote code execution, data exfiltration, and persistence. The record assigns CVSS 4.0 severity 9.3 and reports exploitation observed in August 2017.
A critical supply chain compromise in NetSarang v5.0 products where a malicious DLL (nssock2.dll) was embedded, providing attackers with a multi-stage, DNS-based backdoor for remote code execution, data exfiltration, and persistence.
