CVE-2014-4114 is a remote code execution vulnerability in Microsoft Windows OLE handling, specifically in the OLE package manager component (packager.dll). The flaw affects supported Windows versions from Windows Vista SP2 through Windows 8.1, Windows RT, Windows Server 2008 SP2 and R2 SP1, and Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2. Exploitation occurs when a user opens a specially crafted Microsoft Office document, commonly a PowerPoint file, containing a malicious OLE Package object. The vulnerable behavior allows the Package OLE object to reference an external file, including an INF file, which Windows can retrieve and execute through the package handling logic. This exposed dangerous method condition enables arbitrary code execution in the context of the logged-in user. The vulnerability was exploited in the wild in the Sandworm espionage campaigns and is commonly referred to as the Sandworm flaw.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (ms14_060_sandworm.rb) that exploits the 'Sandworm' vulnerability (CVE-2014-4114) in Microsoft Windows OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) as used by Office. The exploit targets Windows Vista SP2 through Windows 8 and Windows Server 2008/2012, with Office 2010 SP2 or Office 2013. The module generates three files: a malicious INF file, a disguised GIF file containing the payload, and a PPSX (PowerPoint Show) file. The attacker must host the INF and GIF files on an SMB/Samba share (UNC path), and send the PPSX file to the victim. When the victim opens the PPSX, the OLE vulnerability is triggered, causing Windows to fetch and execute the attacker's payload via infDefaultInstall.exe and a registry RunOnce key. The exploit is weaponized, allowing arbitrary code execution with a customizable payload. The code is written in Ruby and is structured as a standard Metasploit exploit module.
