CVE-2011-2462 is a memory corruption vulnerability in the U3D component of Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. It affects Adobe Reader and Acrobat 10.1.1 and earlier on Windows and Mac OS X, and Adobe Reader 9.x through 9.4.6 on UNIX. The flaw is described as an unspecified vulnerability in U3D processing that can be triggered by a crafted PDF, leading to memory corruption. Successful exploitation can allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code in the context of the user opening the malicious document, or to crash the application and cause a denial of service. The vulnerability was exploited in the wild as a zero-day in targeted attacks in December 2011 and was also incorporated into exploit kits.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module exploit targeting a memory corruption vulnerability (CVE-2011-2462) in the U3D handling of Adobe Reader versions 9.x through 9.4.6 and 10 through 10.1.1 on Windows. The exploit works by generating a malicious PDF file (default name: msf.pdf) that embeds specially crafted U3D data and JavaScript to perform a heap spray, allowing for reliable code execution via uninitialized memory usage. The module allows the attacker to specify a Metasploit payload, which is embedded in the PDF and executed when the victim opens the file. The exploit is weaponized, as it is part of the Metasploit framework and supports customizable payloads. The only fingerprintable endpoint is the generated PDF file itself. The code is written in Ruby and leverages Metasploit's FILEFORMAT exploit mixin.
