CVE-2010-3904 is an address-validation vulnerability in the Linux kernel's Reliable Datagram Sockets (RDS) implementation before version 2.6.36. The rds_page_copy_user function improperly validates addresses supplied from user space. A local unprivileged user can exploit this flaw through crafted sendmsg and recvmsg system calls to write to arbitrary kernel memory addresses and escalate privileges to root.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module: 'Reliable Datagram Sockets (RDS) rds_page_copy_user Privilege Escalation' (CVE-2010-3904). The module targets a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the Linux kernel's RDS implementation (net/rds/page.c) affecting versions 2.6.30 to 2.6.36-rc8. The exploit works by uploading and executing a compiled C exploit (rds-fail.c or precompiled binaries) on the target, which triggers the vulnerability to execute a user-supplied payload as root. The default payload is a reverse meterpreter shell, but any compatible Metasploit payload can be used. The module checks for kernel version, RDS module availability, and module loading restrictions before exploitation. It requires a writable directory (default: /tmp) to drop binaries. The exploit is weaponized, fully integrated into Metasploit, and provides root access on vulnerable systems. The code references several fingerprintable file paths and system binaries for its checks and operations.
