Mamona is a ransomware family associated with a financially motivated ransomware-as-a-service operation. It encrypts victim files for extortion and is connected to the operators behind BlackLock and Eldorado. The operator using the alias “$$$” announced Mamona on March 11, 2025, and advertised multiple related ransomware brands on the RAMP underground forum.
Mamona was subsequently succeeded by Global Group ransomware, whose operation emerged in June 2025. The connection includes reused code artifacts, backend infrastructure, an identical execution-coordination mutex in malware samples, and a shared operator alias. Separately analyzed DevMan ransomware also exhibits substantial code overlap with Mamona. Mamona maintained a data-leak site that was defaced during conflict with DragonForce in March 2025. Detailed capabilities and delivery methods documented for Global Group or DevMan should not automatically be attributed to Mamona.
