EvilProxy is a commercial phishing-as-a-service platform specializing in adversary-in-the-middle and reverse-proxy phishing to capture credentials, multi-factor authentication responses, and authenticated session cookies from cloud identity services. Active since at least May 2022, it is one of the longest-running AiTM phishing services and has been marketed on dark-web forums as a turnkey offering that lowers the barrier to entry for session-hijacking attacks against enterprise SaaS and identity providers, including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Dropbox, GitHub, and similar platforms. EvilProxy has been associated with large-scale credential theft campaigns targeting organizations globally, including campaigns against C-level executives and managers at more than 100 organizations. Activity tracked by Okta since at least March 2025 has been designated O-TA-041. The platform is part of the broader criminal phishing ecosystem and has gained prominence as competing services such as Tycoon 2FA were disrupted, with reporting indicating increased campaign volume and market share during that period. Operationally, EvilProxy relays real authentication traffic between victims and legitimate services in real time, allowing attackers to intercept passwords, MFA inputs, and resulting authenticated session artifacts without defeating MFA cryptographically. This makes it effective against organizations relying on conventional MFA methods that can be proxied. Reporting also indicates EvilProxy operators have incorporated device-code phishing into their operations, reflecting adaptation beyond classic reverse-proxy workflows. EvilProxy is best characterized as a financially motivated cybercrime service enabling credential theft, session hijacking, and downstream account compromise, including business email compromise-style abuse of cloud identities.
