0xfff, also known as alh1mik, is a threat actor associated with development of the macOS malware notnullOSX. The actor has been linked to a ClickFix-style social-engineering campaign targeting macOS users who hold high-value cryptocurrency wallets. Observed lures relied on persuading victims to copy and execute commands in Terminal, leading to download and installation of notnullOSX and attempts to obtain broad disk access on the compromised device. notnullOSX has been observed deploying multiple modules, including ReplaceApp, which substitutes legitimate cryptocurrency wallet applications with counterfeit versions in order to capture wallet seed phrases in real time. The activity indicates a financially motivated operator focused on cryptocurrency theft through social engineering, malware deployment, credential-like secret theft, and data exfiltration from Apple macOS systems.
