Storm-0426 is a Microsoft-tracked cybercriminal threat cluster associated with large-scale phishing activity using the ClickFix social-engineering technique. In observed activity from March 2025, the actor targeted users in Germany with payment- and invoice-themed phishing emails designed to trick recipients into manually executing malicious commands, leading to installation attempts of the MintsLoader malware loader. Storm-0426 is one of several clusters linked to ClickFix-style campaigns that rely on fake verification or error-resolution prompts and user-driven command execution through native Windows utilities. The actor’s observed tradecraft supports initial access through phishing and subsequent malware delivery while leveraging social engineering and likely defense-evasion benefits inherent in ClickFix execution chains. Available evidence supports financially motivated cybercrime activity rather than state-directed espionage.
