PhantomVAI Loader operators are a financially motivated cybercrime cluster associated with phishing campaigns that distribute the PhantomVAI Loader, a C# malware loader used to deliver commodity malware including AsyncRAT, XWorm, Formbook, and DCRat. The activity is characterized by email-based initial access using shipment-themed social engineering lures. The loader functions as a delivery mechanism for follow-on payloads associated with credential theft, remote access, and broader post-compromise abuse. Based on the observed malware families delivered, the operators support intrusion chains centered on initial access, malware staging, and post-exploitation through remote administration and information stealing. Attribution to a specific country, formal intrusion set, or state sponsor is not currently available.
